#1 TEXAS HOTS
What is it about us Buffalonians and our love affair with hot dogs covered in mustard, onions and Texas sauce (ground beef and special spices)? The whole world knows we're married to those hot, crispy chicken wings covered in hot sauce (which weird outsiders refer to as "buffalo wings") and we undeniably flaunt that relationship in the public eye, but I suppose the Texas Hot is our dirty, skanky mistress, whom is unfortunately remanded to a life of sneaky late nights and drunken stupors, low-key social engagements and bad decisions. And while chicken wings enjoy fine dining in the lap of luxury with us, the Texas Hots' best pleasure is a parked car in an alleyway, a warm take-out box and our sticky fingers, and all with the hope that we may eventually leave our long time chicken wing spouses and finally start a new life with our true love: those greasy, sloppy slime dogs.
SENECA HOTS HELPS ME NOT TO BE ASHAMED OF MY FEELINGS ANYMORE.
The Texas sauce recipe Seneca Hots uses has been the epitome of the word "craving" for decades. Three generations of my family now can't get enough of it. The good news is we don't have to because they sell it by the quart and pint, it freezes well and reheats to its original perfection. So, you can make your own hot dogs at home with the sauce... Or use it for french fry dipping.. or dress up cheeseburgers with it.. or throw it in an omelette.. or toss it on your Cheerios.. or condition your hair with it..
I'd appreciate it if they made the hot dog switch to Sahlen's, but whatever hot dog it is they use proves to be an appropriate vehicle for that spicy, smooth sauce they sling. Like I said, take the sauce home and use it on your hot dog of choice at will.
In close, head on over to "The Line" for the best Texas Hots in town, where they're but 5 get 1 free (which is a fine appetizer if you ask me), and don't forget to take a pint of sauce home as well. Then, tell your chicken wing wife/husband to pack his/her bags and get out! -

I'm not one that usually judges on the interior of a restaurant. My theory is if the food is good, who cares what it looks like inside. But this place caused me to break my rule. It was absolutely disgusting. Before we even entered the front door windows were covered in fingerprints and grime, so much so my 13 year old niece commented. As soon as you enter you smell stale, stagnant grease in the air. There were 3 un-bussed tables on our side of the place that remained that way most of our meal. The ceiling tiles looked like they had been there since the place was built. They were yellow (from grease and/or cigarette smoke from back in the day) and littered with water stains. Putting up new ones wouldn't cost very much and would make a world of difference. Also, do yourself a favor and don't stare too hard at the "fuzz" covered air vents in the ceiling.
On to the food. I got 2 dogs with sauce, a fry, and a drink ($8.59) They were good. I'm on the fence about the sauce though. I'm partial to johnnies or AJs in Jamestown, NY, but I continue to try different Texas sauces. This place's was edible, but it didn't hit the spot like the 2 aforementioned. My niece got a double cheeseburger and the patties were no thicker than a fast food burger patty, but they were raw in the middle and chewy. Chewy like rubber. She didn't even swallow her first bite. We told the waitress and she remedied it quickly with 2 hot dogs.
I really tried to give this place a chance, but until they hose the inside and outside down with bleach I won't be back. -

Honestly I'm very surprised on how this place has a 4 star rating, everytime I go there the waitresses or person at the drive through window is rude af and clearly does not give a damn about anything and the food is basically garbage, only time I will eat here is if I'm blackout hammered.

I grew up in South Buffalo. I've eaten at this location more times than I can count. It's a late nite paradise for drunks and stoners lol.
The sauce is still king. It makes everything taste better. It's still the same as it was when I was a kid.
What has changed though? The portions have gotten smaller and the prices have gotten higher. I don't go there that much anymore because I just can't justify the prices.
Example: Their Open Beef Souvlaki was always something I loved but now it's just lettuce with a few pieces of beef and even worse one olive! lol It is a shadow of its former self.
I could go a few blocks to Olive Branch and get 3 times a much for the same price. It's just a common sense decision.
The burgers are nothing more than cheap burgers and bun with some sauce. I don't see why they are the price they are. Even the hotdogs are expensive without reason. The fries...well they've always been small and greasy but they're made for dipping in the sauce...duh!
I get the feeling they are just relying on that sauce, which is damned good, but.......... pssssst.....I know the recipe and I can make it myself now.
